Junk Mail

Ever since I got a credit card I have recieved no less than 5 junk mails offering me more credit cards. I know for a fact my bank doesn't sell on customer information, but unfortunatly that doesn't stop VISA sending it to it's members.
I get the same ones every single week without fail and it's been going on for 6 months and I have finally got sick of tearing the things up and throwing them away. I read a while ago, a story a guy posted on Bash.org about the crazy things he did to stop them sending them. He put all kinds of newspaper clippings and junk, and even coins to make the business reply envelope heavy and then mail it back to them. Eventually one of the banks called him and told him to stop sending junk in their business reply envelopes. What did he do? He told them he wanted his change back and they sent him a check for $0.33.

So my experiment in social hacking is underway. I opened the mail, inserted the entire contents of each letter into each business reply envelope. I put a post it note in two of them, with the words "STOP SENDING THIS TO ME EVERY WEEK". Lets see what happens next week, will I still get one from Capital One and Orchard Bank? We will see.

Luckily they don't have my unlisted phone number, if they send me a complaint letter, I will be sure to scan it, post it here and frame it.

Bring it on!
